Where Is Wulfran?
Investigation VR - Da Vinci Code

Official overview

Concept

Wulfran is an artist who mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a series of disturbing artworks…

The player plays the role of an investigator, exploring Wulfran’s exhibition in a museum and manipulating his creations to uncover clues about his disappearance.

Inspired by Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, the game blends investigation and puzzle-solving, set against a backdrop of religious themes and critique.

VR Experience

Where Is Wulfran was specifically designed for virtual reality.

Players can pick up paintings to move them around, or grab and rotate statues to uncover hidden elements.

Putting “things back in their place” and revealing connections between objects are core elements of both the gameplay and the narrative.

My role in this project

  • Programmer
  • System Designer
  • GitHub Management

This group VR project was created during my second year of Game Design studies at Brassart Toulouse.

Challenges

  • Designing a game specifically for virtual reality
  • Drawing strong inspiration from Da Vinci Code to create a puzzle game focused on investigation and symbolism
  • Adapting and implementing mechanics from an existing VR template
  • Focusing entirely on technical development without contributing to the narrative

My Contribution

  • Implemented three core VR interactions:
    - Object grabbing
    - Linear statue movement
    - Rotation
  • Configured player movement in VR
  • Developed the in-game phone system, allowing players to know when a puzzle is solved
  • Contributed to adjusting and scaling visual elements

Design Intentions

  • Placing VR-specific interactions at the core of the gameplay
  • Adapting the experience for players sensitive to motion sickness
  • Exploring themes inspired by Da Vinci Code (art, religion, disappearance)
