Escape from Trap Town…

The core Racing concept remains: reach the Trap Town gate as fast as possible to escape. A timer is set and if the player fails to reach the gate before time runs out, it’s game over.

And the Cannibals!

The Blood Moon has cursed the inhabitants of Trap Town. Now transforming into cannibals, they become dangerous threats along the player’s path.

In an Old Sedan

Speeding away isn’t so easy when you’re driving an old car… Thankfully, your headlights can disturb enemies, disorienting them with intense light!

This game was created as part of a final-year project focused on Kart-Racing during my second year of Game Design studies at Brassart Toulouse.

Challenges

  • Creating a Kart-Racing game with a horror theme
  • Adapting and implementing mechanics using an existing template
  • Developing a full game outside of class hours

Key Achievements

  • Adjusted vehicle parameters (speed, drifting, physics)
  • Integrated dynamic events (haunted trees, pursuing enemies)
  • Designed the entire track layout (level design)
  • Wrote the full Game Design Document

Design Intentions

  • Subverting traditional Kart-Racing (slower pace, bumpy roads, first-person camera)
  • Conveying horror through urgency and the need to escape
  • Building a red-and-black atmosphere with environmental storytelling
  • Creating multiple paths leading to the exit gate
